Toddler Time - A story-sharing program for children between 20 months and 36 months of age: Each 30-minute story time session provides toddlers with the best in children’s literature and music. This program also introduces toddlers to the social experience of a large group, the opportunity to build listening skills, and the self-control needed to be a good audience. This is a lap-sit program where each child must have an adult with them. This program runs five weeks. The Monday sessions will be held Jan. 11-Feb. 8 at 10:30 a.m. each day. The Friday sessions will be held Jan. 15-Feb. 12. These sessions are each limited to 10 toddlers. Please call the library at (989) 845-3211 to reserve your spot. Supported by Target.

Story Hour - Crafts, stories and snacks for children ages 3-5: This program will involve the reading of several stories, sing-a-longs, a craft, and a snack for each child. This program runs five weeks. The Tuesday sessions will be limited to 10 children and will be held Jan. 12-Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m. New: The Thursday evening sessions will be limited to 10 children and will be held Jan. 14-Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Please call the library at (989) 845-3211 to reserve your spot. Would you like to take a trip to the magical land of Oz? We are getting a bus trip together to go see the Wizard of Oz on stage at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The price is $79 per person and includes bus trip, dinner and the show. The bus will be leaving the library at 4:30pm and returning at midnight. The reservation deadline is Jan. 15. Book Discussion Group is reading The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman for our January book. We will be meeting Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. Stop in and pick up a copy to enjoy. Bring a friend; there will be free refreshments! FREE.

The library will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in honor of New Year.

Please note: Effective May 1, 2010, the Chesaning Public Library will only serve residents of Chesaning Township and the White Pine Library Cooperative service area.

In order for our staff to enjoy the New Year Holiday and spend time with their families, the library will be closed from Dec. 31 thru Jan. 3, 2010; normal Business Hours will resume on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The St. Charles District Library board will meet on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. The public is invited to attend.

The Friends of the St. Charles District Library will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the library. New Friends are welcome to come and join the group!

The Taymouth Township Library is having its Adult Reading program starting Jan. 4 and running through March 11. It is a read for fun program. We have eight categories to choose the books you want to read. If you read six of the eight categories, you qualify for a chance at the Grand Prize, which is a dinner at Applebee’s and two Cinema Hollywood tickets. There are also individual category prizes and weekly drawings. What better way to chase away those winter blahs than to come in and join us for 10 weeks of reading fun. See you soon!
