NL KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION – New Lothrop kindergarten registration will be held in the elementary school library on Monday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Children who will be 5 years of age before Dec. 1, 2010 should be registered at that time. It will be necessary for parents to pre-register their children and to pick up the registration packet in the elementary school office prior to registration. The office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. New Lothrop welcomes out-of-district students. For more information, please call (810) 638-5026.

MEMORIAL PARADE LOOKING FOR PARTICIANTS – The annual St. Charles Memorial Day Parade will kickoff at 9 a.m. May 31. Organizers are looking for parade participants. Those who are interested must confirm by May 3 by calling Sherri Simerson at (989) 865-6918 or (989) 445-0648.

PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE EXEMPTION DEADLINE MAY 1 – Attention Chesaning Township property owners: May 1 is the deadline for property owners to file an application for a principal residence exemption on their current principal residence, if they are not currently getting the exemption and should be. Property owners can fill out a principal residence exemption application at the township hall.

CHAMBER RAFFLE WINNER – The winner of the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce biweekly raffle for Wednesday, April 14 is Ron Zuckschwardt. Guest drawer was Chuck Quaderer.

NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION WEEK – The week of April 24-May 1 is National Immunization and College Bound Immunization Week. Special treats will be given at the Rehmann Health Center at the immunization clinic held on Wednesday, April 28. Clinic hours are 9- 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. and is walk-in. ST. CHARLES BOARD OF EDUCATTA

TION VACANCY – St. Charles Community School District is accepting applications to fill a board vacancy created by the resignation of board member James Swartzendruber effective April 15. Those persons interested in being considered for appointment should submit a letter of interest to Joseph K. Wilkins, President, St. Charles Board of Education, 891 West Walnut Street, St. Charles, MI 48655 by noon April 28, 2010. Interested parties will be interviewed at a meeting of the Board of Education at a date and time to be determined.

CHAPIN TRASH DAY CHANGES – Chapin Township Residents: In an effort to increase the level of service to everyone the Chapin Township Board has elected to change trash collection day to Wednesdays. This will hopefully alleviate missed refuse and recycling pick-up. The last scheduled Friday collection will be April 30. Wednesday pick up service will begin on May 5. Those who have questions may contact any of the Chapin Township Board members. Those who have a missed pick-up can log it with the Chapin Township Treasurer at 989-661-7863. The Chapin Township Board would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience during this transition.

CHS BACCALAUREATE MEETING – The Chesaning High School senior class of 2010 invites anyone interested to a meeting about Baccalaureate. The meeting will be held at Chesaning High School on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in room 401.

SEND IN YOUR CENSUS! – According to the 2010 Census web site, there is an estimate of 16 to 27 percent of the Census forms mailed to addresses in the Tri County Citizen readership area that have not yet been completed and returned. Chesaning Township Clerk Sue Emmendorfer emphasized the importance of counting every person in the community. The population count through the CENSUS translates into federal and state dollars for your community. The villages, townships, cities, schools and counties rely on these dollars to provide the services for you, your family and your community. Emmendorfer assures, “They are secure and private.” “All of us throughout Michigan need those state and federal dollars,” she concluded.

BIDS WANTED – Chesaning Township is seeking bids to repair the Wildwood Cemetery mausoleum on Sharon Road at Ferden Road. After the long process of gaining ownership of the structure, the township is now authorized to have the structure repaired. The project will include replacing the clay tile roofing material with a steel roof, plus replace 26 windows. The project specifications can be obtained at the Chesaning Township office, 1025 W. Brady St., Chesaning. The bid deadline is April 30, 2010.
