Chesaning Chamber salutes local businesses and business people

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - The Chesaning Chamber applauds Jim Felix for his volunteer efforts in the community. Chesaning Showboat 2013 Chairman Scott Hewitt talked about Felix’s dedication to the Chesaning Showboat Music Festival ensuring that the immense job of directing Showboat traffic was handled year after year. Keith Valentine talked about Felix’s dedication to the Saginaw County Fairgrounds, which extends year around through many events and efforts. STAR EMPLOYEE - Chesaning Subway restaurant Manager Lisa Trumble was honored with the Star Employee Award. Trumble’s supervisor, Chris Rowe, nominated her for the award. Rowe talked about how customers were frequenting the Subway restaurant because of Trumble’s exceptional customer care. Cheri Thiel (left) who is one of Trumble’s customers, presented the award to Trumble (right) along with a bouquet of flowers. LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT - LaClair Sales, Inc. Sales Manager Jeff Flory was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Tom Rhodes spoke on behalf of Joe LaClair explaining why Flory is so deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Rhodes listed the local organizations where Flory is active. Flory’s list of community participation and service include: Chesaning Corvette Club, served as a Chesaning Township trustee, the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce, Chesaning Snowmobile Club, Chesaning Jaycees, Showboat ticket taker, Conservation Club, Chesaning DDA, Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association, Chesaning Sports Boosters, Chesaning Car Show and Chesaning Parks & Rec Committee. DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS PERSON - Tri-County Citizen Sales Executive Lorraine DeHues (left) was honored to receive the Chamber’s Distinguished Business Person of the Year award. Tri-County Citizen General Manager Bob Grnak (right) had the honor of introducing DeHues. She gave a heart-warming talk about how a girl from Chesaning traveled the country singing professionally with Fred Waring & the Pennsylvanians, returned to Chesaning to join the Weigold Floral family business, and continues to serve the Chesaning business community with pride through the Tri-County Citizen.
