GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

• CHESANING VILLAGE PLANNING
COMMISSION will meet at 7:30 p.m. March 25
in the council chambers, 1100 W. Broad St.

CLUBS & CIVIC GROUPS

• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY HISTORICAL
SOCIETY will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March
23 at the Archives Building, at the corner of
M-52 and Wilkinson Road. The speaker will be
Sharon Thomas, from Swartz Creek, on “Quilts
– Warm Snuggles or Art?” She has taken many
workshops, seminars and retreats from noted
area quilters, and will display many quilts.
She will talk about the quilt names and their
significance, and will show the Civil War quilt.
Bring questions and quilts for an afternoon of
comparing. The meeting is open to the public
and the building is handicapped accessible.
Refreshments will be served.
• CHESANING LIONS CLUB members will meet
at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the Lions Hall,
17200 Corunna Road, Chesaning.
• MONTROSE AMERICAN LEGION POST #367
will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at
the Montrose Senior Citizen Center, 200 Alfred
St. Any veteran who wishes to learn more about
joining the legion may attend.
• CHESANING AREA TASK FORCE meets
at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25 at the
Chesaning Chamber of Commerce office. The
Task Force encourages visitors and welcomes

requests to be placed on the agenda. Anyone
interested in serving on the Task Force board
in the future or seeking information about Task
Force can call (989) 845-6061.

SCHOOLS
• MONTROSE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD
OF EDUCATION will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday,
March 25 for a regular meeting in the Kuehn-
Haven Middle School media center, 303 Ray
St., Montrose.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The Chesaning/Shiawassee River Chapter of
Ducks Unlimited will hold its ANNUAL BANQUET
on Friday, April 4 at the Albee Township
Community Center, 10645 East Road (M-13),
Burt. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with open
bar, and dinner is served at 7 p.m. The evening
consists of auctions, raffles, games, and 50/50
drawing. Tickets are pre-sale only and must be
purchased by March 26. Purchase tickets by
March 12 to be entered into the early bird drawing. Tickets are $75 per couple, $45 per single,

• There will be a SPAGHETTI DINNER on
Saturday, March 29 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the
Montrose Masonic Temple. The cost is $7 for
adults, $5 for children, free for ages under 5.
There will also be door prizes and a bake sale.
• Chesaning American Legion Post 212 Auxiliary
will be having a BAKE SALE for Girls State
on Sunday, April 6 at the pancake breakfast.
Donations are accepted.
• On Saturday, March 29, there will be a CHILI
COOK-OFF starting at 11 a.m. at the Brady
Center Wesleyan Church, 17108 Hemlock Road,
Oakley. Come enjoy the different tastes decide
who made a favorite chili. The community is
invited to join in the fun.

CHURCHES
• During Lent, Good Shepherd Catholic Church,

400 N. Saginaw St., Montrose, will present the
LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS at 7 p.m. on
Friday, April 11. The Way of the Cross is based
upon the Gospel readings from the Bible about
Jesus carrying his cross, walking through the
streets in Jerusalem toward Golgotha, the place
of his execution. It is also called Calvary or the
Place of the Skull. The church meditates upon
14 special events that happened to Jesus on
his way to Calvary – come learn about these
14 events called the Stations of the Cross. In
addition, the youth group will present a lyrical
skit, “Everything,” immediately following. The
public is welcome. This is a powerful skit that
will move the heart. The skit focuses on a
variety of relevant issues facing young people
today such as: depression, anxiety, alcohol/
drug addictions, vanity, obsession with outward
appearance, eating disorders and suicide.
The skit reveals the answer to these issues.

ODDS & ENDS

• The St. Charles District Library SPRING BOOK
AND BAKE SALE will be on Friday, April 11 from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost will be $3 per bag
of items (bags are provided). There will be a
variety of items for children and adults. The sale
is sponsored by the Friends of the St. Charles
District Library. The library is located at 104 W.
Spruce St., St. Charles. For more information,

• The QUARTERLY FOOD DISTRIBUTION
from the Saginaw County Community Action
Committee will be at the St. Charles United
Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 25 from
12:30 to 2 p.m. for anyone who is in need.

REUNIONS
• The CHESANING HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF
1973 will be holding a reunion gathering on
Saturday, April 26, at the Riverfront Grille, from

7 to 10:30 p.m. The event will feature an appetizer buffet and a cash bar. An entry fee of $20
per person will be collected at the door, but
reservations must be made to attend. Email an
RSVP to rpalmer313@gmail.com prior to March
15, and notify any classmates.

HEALTH & SAFETY

• Memorial Healthcare will be hosting a free
LUNCH AND LEARN on Tuesday, March 25 at
noon at the Memorial Medical Arts Building,
located at 721 N. Shiawassee Street, Owosso.
The speaker will be certified gastroenterology
physician assistant Maria Reed, who will speak
on the risk factors, symptoms and prevention
and detection of colorectal cancer. Free takehome colorectal cancer screening kits are also
available that day. To reserve a space or to
inquire about a screening kit, call (989) 729-

BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS

• There will be a CRAFT SHOW on Saturday
and Sunday, April 5 and 6 at Circus Park Hall
on Wilson Road, Clio. The hours are 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
on Sunday. Admission is free. To reserve table

4774. The show is sponsored by Poorman’s
Promotions.
• There will be CRAFT BAZAAR AND CRAFT
SWAP on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. at the Brant Township Hall, 11012 S.
Hemlock Road, Brant. Admission is free.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• Memorial Healthcare in Owosso will host a
free monthly SLEEP APNEA SUPPORT GROUP
on the last Thursday of each month from 7 to
8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Medical
Arts Building, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso.
These meetings are open to the public. For
