SAGINAW COUNTY FAIR MEGA PASSES – The Saginaw County Fair Mega Passes are in at the fairgrounds. For $35, visitors can attend the fair on all five days (July 29-Aug. 2). It includes parking, admission, grandstand, limitless rides and other attractions the county fair offers. The Mega Passes make great graduation, birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or other special occasion gifts. The $10 daily admission is a real bargain, but $35 for the entire fair run is an even greater deal. Stop in the office or call (989) 845-2143 to obtain tickets.

SAGINAW COUNTY FAIR MEMBERSHIP DRIVE – The Saginaw County Fair continues to grow both crowd-wise and in improvements each year. Those who are not a fair member and/or currently a volunteer are encouraged to join. For only $25 for the initial membership year and $15 each year thereafter, people can be fair supporters. Stop in the office or call (989) 845-2143 for an application, or email saginawfair@yahoo.com.

FLOODING – The village of Chesaning reported 3.25 inches of rain from the July 7-8 overnight rainstorm. The village of Oakley, recorded more than six inches. Oakley DPW Director James Frelitz responded to a village resident who was concerned about the sewer backup. Frelitz explained that when you get six inches of rain, “where is it going to go?” The wastewater treatment plant pumps are running 24 hours.

PLAYGROUND SAFETY – Oakley Village Clerk Cheryl Bolf expressed concern over the safety of the merry-go-round at the Oakley Village Park. “It’s dangerous,” she said. The council acknowledged something has to be done immediately to protect children using the park. She also indicated that there have been some vandals in the park lately.

BLOOD DRIVE – There will be a blood drive on Tuesday, July 15 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Montrose United Methodist Church, 158 E. State St., Montrose. Donors must be at least 17 years old and in good health. The drive is co-sponsored by the Good Shepherd Knights of Columbus Council #8669. STC POST OFFICE NEW HOURS – The St. Charles Post Office will have new window service hours effective Aug. 9. The retail counter will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Retail services are established to meet the postal needs of the community within the limits of available hours and resources. Periodic reviews are conducted and adjustments are made to meet changing economic conditions, said Wendie Shepherd-Griffin, postmaster.

CHAMBER RAFFLE WINNER – The winner of the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce biweekly raffle for Wednesday, July 9, was Jean Launstein, of Flushing. Guest drawer was Steve Windom, of Chesaning.

KC RAFFLE WINNERS – The winners of the Chesaning Knights of Columbus 50/50 raffle for July are Fred Kelbey, of St. Charles, Rosemary Gengler, of St. Charles, Donald Pollard, of Montrose, and Bill Stasek, of Oakley.
