Successful STC campaign reflected by long string of post-season honors

ST. CHARLES - St. Charles’ varsity baseball team captured league and district championships as part of a highly successful 2016 campaign and the squad’s excellence was reflected by several post-season honors that came in the direction of Roger Henninger’s student-athletes.

Pitcher Billy Blair, infielder Sam Schofield and outfielders Brendan Nieman and Caleb Damic all landed berths on the TVC-West’s First Team in voting by the league’s coaches. Mason McSweyn, a pitcher/infielder, and catcher Andrew Bauman earned Second Team league honors while Brenden Slick and Anthony Miller received Honorable Mention.

Blair, Bauman, McSweyn, Schofield and Nieman all earned spots on the All-District team. Schofield and Slick were named Academic All-District.

Within the team setting, Anthony Miller was named Most Improved Player, Billy Blair was honored as the team’s Most Valuable Player and Brenden Slick was the recipient of the Paul Farmer Award.
