Tribe netters beat ranked Powers, 5-3

CHESANING – Flint Powers Catholic’s No. 10 ranked tennis team visited Chesaning last Tuesday and the Tribe handed the always-tough Chargers their first loss of the season, a 5-3 setback.

Powers, which captured a regional title last year, split with CHS in singles competition, but the Indians won three of four doubles matches to secure the non-conference win.

Josh Wirt and Dawson Giesken each won in singles while the doubles teams of Austin Rolka/ Kieran Himm, Noah Rider/ Blane Eastwood and Kyle Rolf/ Dakota Benkert all won for Chesaning.
