GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in the township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.

MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 in the Township Hall, 139 S. Saginaw.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.

FUNDRAISERS

• The Good Shepherd Knights of Columbus Council 8669 is selling BUNDLED WOOD for the winter season. A face cord of ash is available for $45, or pine is available for $30. The wood is collected, split, and stacked by men who care about pro-life issues. All of the proceeds from the purchased wood is donated to pro-life causes and charities in the Flint and Genesee County area. CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS

• The ST. CHARLES AMERICAN LEGION POST 468 meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Hall, St. Charles.

• The SHIAWASSEE QUILTERS meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St. Some of their activities include making charity quilts, quilt speakers, trunk shows, round robins, mystery quilts, prizes, free fat quarters, and tips of the months.

• The BURT AMERICAN LEGION POST #99 meets the third

Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Burt Opera House, 12888 Nichols Road, Burt.

• The ST. CHARLES LIONS CLUB meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle St., St. Charles.

• The TAYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Taymouth Township Library, 2361 E. Burt Road, Burt.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop will host a SOUP AND PIE SUPPER on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children. Ages 4 and under eat free. The church is located at 7495 Orchard St. in New Lothrop.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP will meet on the fourth Friday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Durand Senior Center, 8750 Monroe Road, Durand. For more information, call (989) 729-4712 or (800) 206-8706, ext. 6655.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

RESPITE VOLUNTEERS OF SHIAWASSEE is offering volunteer opportunities including: helping a patient and caregiving family, helping in the office, on committees, with fundraisers, and special projects. Make a huge difference in someone’s life and your life. There will be a workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 111 S. Shiawassee St., Corunna. CHURCHES

ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accept donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.
