MARION TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, in the township hall, 11925 S. Merrill Road.

HAZELTON TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 at the township office, 7505 Orchard St., New Lothrop.

NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, at the township hall, 2705 E. Easton, Owosso.

CHAPIN TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the township hall, 21481 Peet Road, Henderson.

MONTROSE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the Montrose Historical and Telephone Pioneer Museum, 144 E. Hickory St.

CHESANING AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Chamber Office, 218 N. Front St., Chesaning.

• The MONTROSE LIONS CLUB board meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Montrose Railroad Depot, 154 W. State St.

• American Legion Post 212 and Auxiliary members, due to the inclement weather, the CHRISTMAS POTLUCK DINNER AND MONTHLY MEETING was cancelled on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017. The dinner and monthly meeting was rescheduled and will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10. For those wishing to attend the dinner beginning at 6 p.m. are asked bring a passing dish. The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

RESPITE VOLUNTEERS OF SHIAWASSEE is offering volunteer opportunities including: helping a patient and caregiving family, helping in the office, on committees, with fundraisers, and special projects. Make a huge difference in someone’s life and your life. There will be a workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 111 S. Shiawassee St., Corunna. SENIOR CITIZENS

• The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS meet on Monday, Jan. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall. All senior citizens are welcome. For more information, call 643-2201 or 643-5635.

FOOD PANTRIES

• There will be FOOD DISTRIBUTION on the second Saturday of each month behind Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Service will be at 4:30 p.m. with distribution at 5 p.m.

ODDS AND ENDS

• There will be a NEW MUSIC JAM at the Marion Springs Conservation Club, 20390 W. Brant Road, Brant, on the second Tuesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Acoustic instruments only, please. For information, call Jim Van Luven at (989) 845-6721 or Dave Smith at (989) 865-9393. Admission is free.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Memorial Healthcare is offering a program on PREVENTING TYPE 2 DIABETES this winter. There will be a free information session on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Diabetes and Nutritional Counseling Center, 802 W. King St., Owosso. The workshop will start on Tuesday, Jan. 23 and meet 16 times from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. through June, then monthly through December. The actual cost of the National Diabetes Prevention Program

is $450, but with the support of Memorial Healthcare Center and Michigan State University Extension, the cost of the workshop is $50 per person. Financial assistance is available upon request. TRI-TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at Station No. 1, 106 Spruce St. in St. Charles.

• The CHESANING/BRADY FIRE DEPARTMENT BOARD will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. at Station No. 1 on Brady Road in Chesaning.

SCHOOLS

CHESANING UNION SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, in the high school media center.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• Chesaning American Legion Post 212, 15053 McKeighan Road, will hold its MONTHLY BREAKFAST on Sunday, Jan. 7. The breakfasts will run from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 12-6, and free for children ages 5 and under. The menu will include pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, toast, juice, milk and coffee. Proceeds will help support youth programs and community service.

• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845- 3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The Montrose Order of the Eastern Star #351 will host an all-you-can-eat SPAGHETTI DINNER on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Montrose Masonic Lodge, 130 Parkway St., Montrose. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, beverage and homemade dessert for $8. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop will host a SOUP AND PIE SUPPER on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children. Ages 4 and under eat free. The church is located at 7495 Orchard St. in New Lothrop.

• The American Legion Post 212 Auxiliary will be having a BAKE SALE at the pancake breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 7. All donations are welcome.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• A PARKINSON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Medical Arts Building at Owosso Memorial Healthcare, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso. FUNDRAISERS

• There will be TEXAS HOLD’EM TOURNAMENT and/or cash table(s) Thursdays through Sundays, January through March, from 5:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at St. Charles Pro Bowl/The Alley Bar and Grill, 1104-5 N. Saginaw St., St. Charles. All proceeds will benefit the St. Charles American Legion Post #468, Organization ID # 300388, St. Charles High School and St. Charles Bowling Association. CHURCHES

• Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) announces a SCHEDULE CHANGE effective Sunday, Jan. 7. On Sundays, Divine Service is scheduled for 9 a.m. with Sunday School, Youth Bible Class, and Adult Bible Class to follow at 10:15 a.m. On Mondays, Divine Service is scheduled for 7 p.m. with a 19-minute Bible Study for all ages to follow at 8 p.m. The Midweek With the Master Bible Study will continue to be held on Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and is located at 16070 W. BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS
