Hornets’ Wolford, Rams’ Wallis shine at NL invitational

NEW LOTHROP – New Lothrop’s Austin Wolford and Montrose’s Reese Wallis had stellar days on Saturday, Jan. 6 at the New Lothrop wrestling invitational.

Wolford took first place at 140 lbs. for the Hornets, posting a 6-3 decision over Shepherd’s Trevor Robinson.

Wallis took first at 125 lbs. with a 13-5 major decision over Zeth Strejc of Lowell in their finals bout. Wallis remained undefeated on the season.

Justin Carnahan was third for the Hornets at 171 lbs., picking up a 12-6 decision over Beaverton’s Jack Owens in the consolation finals.

Cole Wendling finished fourth for New Lothrop, losing a 7-0 decision to Birch Run’s Trent Maragon in the 160 lb. consolation finals.

For the Rams, Griffin Barnette finished second at heavyweight after getting pinned in 2:47 by Lowell’s Tyler Deloof.

Jake Elasivich was also second, losing a 3-1 decision to Garret Mogg of Sanford in the finals at 103 lbs.

The Rams also got a fifth place finish from Jimmy Viar and a sixth place finish from Sean Kittle.
