STC girls fall to VL, 56-24

SAGINAW TWP. – St. Charles’ varsity girls’ basketball team stayed close for the first half of its game against powerful Valley Lutheran last Friday night before the host Lady Chargers dominated the second half en route to a 56-24 win.

STC trailed by just 16-11 at the end of the opening quarter and was within 24-17 at intermission, but VL outscored the Lady ‘Dawgs by a 32-7 margin after the break to run away with the decision.

Celine Whiren was the leading scorer for St. Charles with eight points. Peyton Czymbor followed with six. Hannah Kushion added five markers, Lindsey Pumford had three and Shelby Grunas completed the STC scoring with a pair of points.
