Tribe grapplers finish fourth at North Branch team tourney

NORTH BRANCH – Chesaning’s varsity wrestlers went 3-2 on the day to finish fourth out of 10 teams at the North Branch team tournament on Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Indians defeated Frankenmuth 46-24, Capac 62-18 and All Stars 51-27. They lost to Cass City 42-39 and Pinconning 48-36.

“Overall we wrestled really well today,” said Chesaning coach Jeremy Reiber. “I’m very proud of the effort everyone gave.”

Going 5-0 for the Indians were Jordan Rodriguez, Colton Juillett, Dawson Giesken, Quaid Wilkins and Jake Stevenson.

Wrestlers who went 3-2 on the day were Collin Rodriguez, Jaden Aguado, Shelbi Daniels and Angelica Escamilla.

Jordan Goward won one varsity match for the Indians. Also wrestling well were Zac Marzluft and Ben Albosta.

The Indians are 6-4 on the season in dual meets.
